How to Enjoy Your Time Off and Not Think About Work

How to Enjoy Your Time Off and Not Think About Work

Sometimes, it’s absolutely critical to forget about the office for a week or two. And that’s exactly what you get when you go for a road trip. You’re out in the open with nothing to bother you, except perhaps the heat.

Set Clear Boundaries

The first thing you want to do when you get out on the open road is to set clear boundaries. You want to make sure that people know that they shouldn’t contact you.

If you can set an out-of-office email, that’s usually enough to deter people. But you can also do things like warn people about your impending absence and everything else you want to do.

Delegate Tasks

Tied in with this, it also helps to delegate tasks. Giving people things they need to do is a great way forward and something that will save you a lot of hassle if you don’t want anyone to disturb you.

Some companies call these “hand offs.” But setting up a tag team style situation can reduce the risk of issues when you return.

Choose An Immersive Destination

Also, if you want to forget about the office, you want an immersive destination. Going somewhere that fills you with the awe of nature is a great way to forget about work and the corporate world.

Of course, you’re spoiled for choice on places to go in today’s Instagram-dominated world. Everywhere from Banff to the Pacific Coast highway is worth checking out.

Mix Up Your Activities

Mixing up your activities is also useful and can be a great way to take your mind off things. When you always have something new to do, it can be a great way to relax and just have a lot of fun.

For example, you could do things like take a short hike and then go to local dining. You could also try out mountain biking or go kayaking. It really depends on what you like and the thrill level you’re looking for.

Take Your Accommodation With You

If you really want to get out into nature for an extended period of time and feel at peace, then you could take your accommodation with you. These days, finding Fifth Wheel RV rentals is easy, so you don’t have to look far.

Just make sure you pack light and with the intention to have fun. Don’t put all your activities on a spreadsheet. That’s not a good idea and it could ultimately leave you more stressed than when you left home.

Take Travel Companions With You

Don’t feel like you have to go traveling all by yourself. Taking companions with you is an excellent way to forget about the office and just focus on having fun, wherever you go. You could even take your pets if it isn’t too inconvenient for you. Sometimes, it can be fun to hit the road with your dog.

Just make sure you take all the supplies you need with you ahead of time. Check you have everything in order first.
